Apple’s MacOS High Sierra Bug

Lemi Ergin discovered it in 2017. Here someone can easily enter the system and administrative panel without being asked for credentials. Though Apple patched this later and assured the users that this security issue won’t be there any longer, things didn’t turn out really. He was heavily criticized because he exposed about the flaw via twitter and didn’t follow the “guidelines.”

KeRanger ransomware

Keydnap

Through this attack, hackers proved that neither MAC nor windows are hard to attack. ESET researchers discovered it in 2016. The keydnap was a different kind of trojan that behaved similar to KeRanger. The development and design was in a way to steal the credentials from the hosts.

Mac.Eleanor

This was similar to Keydnap, but it worked behind a fake converter. BitDefender discovered it.Once after execution, this one runs Tor which gives access of the host mac to cybercriminals. They can now use it to steal credentials or lock the user out.

Thunderstrike

Security professionals discovered it. This was a proof of concept attack to harm the Mac computers via firmware backdoor. Apple solved both the issues later and users sighed in relief!

KeyRaider

Cydia repositories distribute it. Found in 2015, It had stolen over 225000 account details with which they could access to certificates, private keys, and other important documents. It became terrifying and users complained that their phones have started behaving abnormally.

Celebgate’ iCloud attacks

This was the most serious issue till date. Here, the main target was iCloud and a few incredibly awkward pictures of some Hollywood stars got expose. According to Apple, any security breach did not hit their system.

Flashback Trojan

WireLurker and Masque
